MILDRED WILNER
My interest in art began in early childhood, Bucks County, PA. It translated from my eye to my hand, which seemed compelled to sketch the wonders of nature and the people surrounding me. Since arriving in Denver as a young war bride in 1946, I am awed with the majesty of our mountains and the western landscape. When painting portraits, I am fascinated with the challenge of reflecting the spirit and personality of each individual.
Although my early training was in the elements of fine art and representationalism, I can be more abstract in my work. I love color and use it liberally, and delight in experimenting with different media to punctuate my varied subject matter. Discovery through "happy accidents" is my joy. After formal fine arts training in Philadelphia, I have studied with artists of PBS and world-wide acclaim such as Tom Lynch, John Elliot, Sue Scheewe-Brown and Doug Dawson.
Active in the Denver Allied Arts Guild (DAAG) and Park Hill Art Club, I have received awards from DAAG, Wells Fargo, and the Colorado Artists Guild. Portraits, landscapes, and still life by commission. Please contact me at: (303) 377-4446
