Newsletter for May 2005
GENERAL MEETING: Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 9:30am at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Ave. Enter through the east door of the south building and the classroom is straight ahead. Remember that we meet on the 3rd Saturday at 9:30am.
Your furnished name tags should to be worn to each meeting - if you wear your furnished name tag and your signup number is called out by a guest, you win $5! The Hello stickíem tags are only for guests!!! Ardath won the $5 and Sally Moore won the raffle.
The PROGRAM will be a pastel demo with Ellen Masters. She was born and raised in New Mexico, where she developed a love for nature and old structures. Formal training was a drawing class at North Community College and while her two children were small, she completed the Home Study Art Instruction course. Watercolor and pastel are her chosen mediums. Ellen was a working member of the Georgetown Art Gallery in Georgetown for twelve years. She is presently showing in Grand Lake Art Gallery. Her work has received numerous awards and is represented in private collections nationally and internationally.
NOTE: Our meeting will be down the hall at the church (where we have met several times in the past)
Review of last months program: Was a watercolor demonstration with Nancy Wylie. Though she was unable to finish her painting (time constraint), she was able to show and talk about some very important elements that should be prepared BEFORE beginning any painting. That is a value sketch, thumbnail, should take 10 minutes or less for this project - this value sketch determines the shapes. If you paint from a photo, what elements drew your eye to this photo? then make that the focal point in your painting. Paint what you see, NOT what you know!!!
At the beginning of the meeting, those in attendance held a moment of silence in the memory of Mary Ann Clarke.
