Welcome back to DAAG after a long, hot summer!
GENERAL MEETING: Our first general meeting of the fall of 2007 will take place Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except on December, July, and August. Our meeting time is at 9:30 a.m. and you enter through the east door on Fairfax. Please feel free to bring your friends to our meetings, and remember to wear your nametag! If you are wearing your nametag and your sign-in number is called, you will win $5.00!
PROGRAM: The September program will be by Yelena Sidorova, who paints on silk. She and her husband Stanislav use dyes which they put on the silk, and the dyes bleed into each other creating beautiful and unique colors and designs.
June Program: Our last program was a White Elephant Sale, which was quite interesting. Members brought in a diverse collection of items to be auctioned off, including picture frames, mat board, easels, books, magazines, and even a bottle of scotch and two quiches! We took in $106.00.
Refreshments for the September meeting will be by Dorothy Petet and Laveryn Talmage. Ann Hanscom and Thelma Gash will bring refreshments for October.
EXHIBITS: Roland Jones took our slides to Koelbel Library to be juried for a show. However, Koelbel is now having one-person shows, so they turned us down. We have no place to exhibit our work, so please offer your suggestions! Please note: at the September meeting you can pick up your slides that you sent to Koelbel.
DUES: If you have not already paid your dues, please pay them! You can bring them to the September meeting. We are going to be putting out the roster soon, and want to have all members listed.
Board Meeting: The next Board Meeting will be at Floy Walberg’s house on Friday, September 21st at 3:00.

Thought for the Day:
“As all evaluation systems are suspect, there’s another way for creative people to approach the game. Pay no attention to what anybody thinks. Set your own standards. Paddle your own canoe. This includes not putting yourself at the mercy of kangaroo courts. Simply become your own jury and prize-giver. The real prize comes to the artist when the work is made, and if it’s truly worthy and anyone wants to vote for it down the line, maybe they’ll track you down.”
