Welcome to the third General Meeting of 2007.
General Meeting: Our General Meeting will be on November 17th at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except in July, August, and December. Please enter through the east door on Fairfax. Also, please feel free to bring your friends to our meetings, and remember to wear your nametag! If you are wearing your nametag and your sign-in number is called, you will win $5.00!
PROGRAM: Charles Danford will be giving us a demonstration of painting on Yupo paper. He is a well-known artist and fine painter, and his work can be seen in several regional galleries. He teaches classes and workshops for many art clubs and organizations, and this will be a very interesting program.
OCTOBER PROGRAM: In October Jackie McFarland critiqued our paintings. She gave us an excellent critique with many suggestions for improvement. Many members had been painting during the summer and we saw some interesting and intriguing work.
BOARD MEETING: The Board will meet a week later than usual - at 3:00 on Friday, November 30th at Marion Wright’s house.
MEMBER NEWS: We were so very sorry to hear of the passing of Thelma Gash’s sister Alicetine Parker. Her funeral was Thursday, October 11th. Floy Walberg won 2nd Place at the Lone Tree Art Exhibition. Ann Hanscom and Floy Walberg were accepted into the Colorado Watercolor Society show at Botanic Gardens.
REFRESHMENTS: Joyce Madden and Rachel Neubauer will bring refreshments in November. We will not have a general meeting in December. We will meet again in January, and Helen Buznedo and Marion Wright will bring refreshments.
EXHIBITS: Our next exhibit will be at Botanical Gardens April 13-18, 2008. We will be mailing applications in the newsletter, and asking you to bring three paintings per person to be juried for entry. We will also have a table for small paintings that are 8x10 inches or smaller, (mat and frame not included). There will also be a potpourri table for small items like painted rocks and handmade cards. You are responsible for your own insurance. At a later date we will let you know what time to bring your work to the Gardens and how much it will cost to present your work. We will need people to help hang the show as well as to sit for it, and we will have sign up sheets for those activities at a later date.
HOLIDAY PARTY: The holiday party will be December 8th at 6:00 at Marion Wright’s house. At the November general meeting we will pass a sign up sheet around, so please sign up to bring an appetizer, salad, vegetable, bread, or dessert. The meat will be provided and we will ask for a small donation per person to cover the cost of the meat. We’ll have a Chinese auction too, so please bring a small, non-religious hand made gift. Please don’t bring food for the auction.
WEBSITE: Only fourteen members are on our Website www.daagonline.com, and we are not selling our work. It costs $300.00 per year to maintain the Website, and that does not include the $25.00 you pay to put your work on the site. Please consider if you want to continue the Website, or if you think we should let it go. We will be voting on this issue at the November meeting.
RESUME BOOK: I will be bringing the resume book to every general meeting and will put it out for all to see. I will also bring some resume sheets, so please feel free to update your resume or change the photos of your paintings as you see fit.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Charles Danford will be having a workshop December 28th and 29th at Windsor Gardens Art Room from 9 a.m. to 3:30p p.m. each day. Space is limited, so please sign up soon. Call him at (303) 758-9090 for more information such as cost and a supply list.
