GENERAL MEETING: This will be the sixty-eighth meeting of the Denver Allied Arts Guild in the New Millennium! We meet at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Please enter through the east door on Fairfax Street and bring your friends to our meetings. Also, remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called, you will win $5.00, but you have to be wearing your nametag!

Congratulations and welcome to Nancy Graham who is our newest member!

MAY PROGRAM: We will have a critique by Joanne Birney, who is a well-known artist in the area. Members please bring one painting each to be critiqued. It is always such a pleasure to see the art our members are making.

APRIL PROGRAM: Sharon Hann’s “Brain Teasers” program was most interesting, and we all had a good time making repetitive patterns on paper by using canvas dipped in paint.

Please remember that in June we will be having our WHITE ELEPHANT SALE. Please start getting the items together that you would like to sell, trade, or give away. This sale is always a lot of fun!

REFRESHMENTS: Sherry Gunnell and Marion Wright will do May refreshments, and Rosemary Weiler and Sharon Hann will do June.

BOTANIC GARDENS SHOW: We were at Botanic Gardens from April 13th to April 18th. These members received ribbons for their work:

Best of Show: Delores Hartman - “Johnson Ranch”

First Place: Marion Wright - “Woman with Bats in Belfry”

Second Place: Rosemary McGibbon - “Blossom Medley”

Third Place: Ann Hanscom - “La Circa”

Honorable Mention: Tony Ammerita - “Urban Renewal”

Honorable Mention: Rosemary Weiler - “Rainy Day at the Beach”

Congratulations to all the winners!

MONTVIEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH: This show will be up until Sunday, June 1st at noon. Please come at that time to pick up your work, and if you can’t be there, please arrange to have your work picked up.

DU/DRISCOLL SHOW: This show will take place Monday, September 29th to Friday, October 24th at the University of Denver. It will be a juried show and there will not be a reception. We will discuss this show further at the May General Meeting. Please start painting now to have new work for this show. LaVeryn Talmage will be in charge of the show, so please call her if you have questions.

PLEASE NOTE: Ardath will be designing the invitations to the DU/DRISCOLL SHOW. Please bring addresses and stamps to the JUNE meeting so we can get the invitations to your friends addressed and stamped and ready to mail out. These invitations will be postcards, so the postage won’t cost as much as a letter.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Dick Lutz, Linda Klingman, and Delores Hartman are on the Nominating Committee, and here are the nominees for next year’s board: President: Ardath Baker; Vice President: Ann Hanscom; Treasurer: Marcia Williams; Recording Secretary: Rosemary Weiler; Corresponding Secretary: Marion Wright; Membership: Sharon Hann; Floy Walberg: Historian; and Refreshments: Sally Moore. LaVeryn Talmage has agreed to be the Exhibits Chairman, but she will need help. We will vote on these offices in May and install them at the June meeting. We will have a joint luncheon for the new officers at Ann Hanscom’s in July. The date has not been set yet.

REMINDER: DUES ARE DUE!  Please remember to pay your dues for next year so you can get your name in the roster! Thank you!

DESK LAMPS FOR SALE!! We have a number of desk lamps left over from our former shows at the Botanic Gardens. These are nice clamp lamps, and are only $5.00 each. Talk to Ann Hanscom if you want to buy a lamp.
